61st Northwest Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society

The University of Nevada Reno Chemistry Department and the American Chemical Society hosted the 61st Northwest Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society. This meeting was held from Sunday, June 25 to Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in the Reno/Sparks area. This event included keynote speakers Fraser Stoddart from UCLA (the UNR Chemistry Fuson Lecturer) and Jack Norton from Columbia Univ. (the Sierra Nevada ACS section Distinguished Chemist) along with 2006 Cope Scholar Awardee Brian Stoltz from Caltech, EPSCoR Sensor group distinguished speaker Weihong Tan from Florida and symposium topics covering (all listed times are currently TENTATIVE - contact session chair to check):

Additional topics were derived from contributed papers of general interest in chemical eduction, biochemistry, analytical, inorganic, organic, physical, and theoretical chemistry. There was also a student poster competition. Workshops were offered during the meeting in the area of chemical education (NOTE: LINKS ARE FOR INFORMATION ONLY - "Chemistry with Toys") and "Careers and Regional Employment."
