Graduate Student Financial Aid
Incoming graduate students receive a tuition waiver and year-round stipend support, typically in the form of a ten month teaching assistantship and and a summer research fellowship. Advanced graduate students continue to receive tuition waivers and stipend support through a combination of research and teaching assistantships. Over the course of progress towards an advanced degree, the bulk of a graduate student’s support is obtained from their thesis director’s research grants.
Special research assistantships and special awards and fellowships are offered to highly qualified entering students as available. It has been our experience that the stipends we provide to students, coupled with the reasonable cost of living found in Reno, make it possible for students to maintain a comfortable lifestyle.
